Seismic Imaging Technology Part II

Seismic imaging is considered key to reducing risk and cost in exploratory as well as development drilling. Seismic acquisition geometry impacts the seismic image, so in this article we show how advances in imaging deepwater subsalt plays in the deep water Gulf of Mexico is a result of the way the industry has embraced the wide azimuth streamer survey technique.

ObliQ Technology Improves Seismic Imaging

In a marine geophysical survey, every attempt is made to maintain the streamer at a constant optimum depth. But there are issues involved in selecting that optimum depth; too shallow, and the record tends to be noisy; too deep, and a ghost notch appears in the useful bandwidth of the seismic signal.
